citizens, letting them stretch it out to make it work financially. By midsumlner next year the
siding will all match.

Councilmember K.urak noted the neighbors seem to have a problem ~vith the cars on the property,
and there was discussion at Planning and Zoning about this. She asked if Mr. Mettler is planning
on putting his cars in the garage.

Mr. Mettler replied he has two work vans and four collectible cars in addition to his other cars.
'C/hen the addition is up he will be able to move the material inside.

Councilmember Elvig noted the applicant has 10 to 11 cars and the structure is not large. The
only concern he really has is the addition will be moving the structure' closer to the front road:
He inquired about requiring landscaping to screen the front of the structure.

Assistant Community Development Director Trudgeon replied the picture in the Council's
packet is taken beyond the tree lin. e. The garage is more difficult to see fi-om the road.

Councihnember Cook stated this application should be looked at on the merit of approving the
building. Problems with cars are separate from building the garage.

Mr. Mettler explained the reason he wants to move the garage to face Sunfish Lake Boulevard is
if he moves it to the south it would require the removal of trees, and there has been drastic
removal of trees on the hillside already. Also, it would change the drainage of the lot. The
proposed location for the addition is perfectly fiat, and a small drainage ditch was put in there.

Motion by Councihnember Cook, seconded by Councilmember Zimmennan, to adopt Resolution
#04-09-270 to adopt Findings of Fact #0697 relating to Michael Mettler's requests for a
Conditional Use Permit to exceed the allotted square footage for accessory buildings.

Further Discussion: Mayor Garnec expressed concern with the number of cars on the property.
He stated he hopes if this is approved Mr. Mettler will abide by it and follow the a~eement they
have. Mr. Mettler stated part of the problem is that he never had a house before. A lot of the
cars in question will be running fine when he gets time to work on them.

Motion ca,Tied. Voting Yes: Mayor Gamec, Councilmembers~C6Ok, Zi~m-nennan, Elvig, Kurak,
Pearson, and Strommen. Voting No: None.

Motion by Councihnember Cook, seconded by Councihnember Zi~rn'nennan, to adopt Resolution
#04-09-271 to approve Michael Mettler's request to exceed the allotted square footage for
accessory buildings based on the findings of fact, and adopt a resolution declar/ng ten-as of same.

txUl-thcr Discussion: Councilmember Zimlnerman indicated the Planning Cormnission pointed
ottt correctly that they have approved similar permits, and to pick on the applicant would be
inco~2-ect. Mayor Gamec asked if there is a timetable of when the siding will be done. Assistant
Community Development Director Trudgeon replied there is not a timetable that he is aware of.

City.
