10

Commissioner Brauer asked if it would put staff in a better negotiating position with the county
if the Commission ,,vas to state the City cannot have people accessing commercial property
through a residential neighborhood,

Associate Planner Geisler noted this would need to be determined by the City Attorney.

Commissioner Jeffrey expressed concern that if the other parcel was to develop there would be a
whole other set of issues.

Steve Schmidt, applicant, 222 MGm'Ge Street in Anoka, stated he spoke with County
Cbmmissioners Dan Earhardt and Dennis Berg and they are looking into the situation with the
county engineering staff' and traffic control. His comments to them were simple in that the
county already approved access off of 147th Avenue on the west side of CR 56, and they cannot
argue about safety or sight lines on the east side of the road. He stated it makes all the sense in
the world to put the access there. It can be worked out that the outiot to the south is deeded to
the City so there is access to the south. He thinks staff is suggesting the Commission approve
the plat the way the county said it has to go, and he will deal with. the county. He stated he
understands it wilt be right~in/right-our access, and he is fine with that.

Commissioner Van Scoy questioned the portion of the letter from the county that states :'The
County Engineer has reviewed the past correspondence and the current submittals regarding this
site as well, and concurs that access tbr the parcet is to be made entirely via 148~h Avenue NW
with no direct access to either CR 56 or CSAH 116."

Associate Planner Geisler noted the earlier review letters show 148th Avenue going through.

Chairperson Nixt noted the plat may need to be approved contingent on approval by Anoka
County.

Chairperson Nixt closed the regular portion of the Planning Commission meeting at 8:59 p.m. in
order to call the public hearing to order.

Public Hearing

Chai~person Nixt called the public hearing to order at 8:59 p.m.

Citizen Input

There was none.

Motion by Chairperson Nixt, seconded by Commissioner JeI:£rey, to close the public hearing.

Motion can'/ed.
