SPECIAL PROVISIONS - SP20I6 BOOK <br />Last Revision by CO Special Provisions: 2/08/17 <br />Created August 20, 2015 <br />Page 44 <br />SP 0202-101 <br />(1) The Engineer will identify a minimum of three (3) locations for the Independent Third <br />Party to core. <br />(2) The Independent Third Party will take one (1) core at each location. <br />(3) The Independent Third Party will complete all coring within 14 days of notification of the <br />low strength concrete. <br />(4) The Contractor is responsible for ensuring the core holes are repaired. <br />The Engineer, in conjunction with the Concrete Engineer, will review the core test results and <br />evaluate in accordance with Table 2461-18, providing all other concrete tests meet requirements. <br />Core (average <br />of 3 cores) <br />Test Results: <br />> 85% of f'c <br />and <br />No individual <br />core is < 75% <br />of f'c <br /><85%offc <br />Table 2461-18 <br />Evaluation of Core Test Results <br />Engineer considers Cost of Coring <br />concrete: and Testing: <br />Acceptable to <br />remain in place <br />Agency <br />Unacceptable Contractor <br />Resolution: <br />No monetary reduction for single <br />strength test failure. <br />Remove and replace concrete in <br />accordance with 1503, "Conformity <br />with Contract Documents," and <br />1512, "Unacceptable and <br />Unauthorized Work," as directed by <br />the Engineer. <br />G.5.f(4) Moving Average Below f c <br />If the moving average of three (3) consecutive strength tests < fc, the Concrete Engineer will <br />review the strength test results and determine if a new mix design is required in accordance with Table <br />2461-6 or Table 2461-7. <br />occurs: <br />The Engineer will remove any strength test results from the moving average if the following <br />(1.2) <br />(1.3) <br />After investigation the deficient concrete strength is found to be an erroneous/invalid <br />strength test <br />The suspect concrete was removed and replaced <br />Dispute resolution coring identified the concrete acceptable to remain in place <br />Reasons for finding erroneous test results as determined by the Concrete Engineer: <br />(2.1) Cylinders kept in the field longer than 7 days, <br />(2.2) Improper handling/curing of the cylinders, and/or <br />(2.3) Improper testing of the cylinders <br />For the quantity of non -conforming concrete not meeting the moving average of three (3) <br />consecutive strength tests, the Engineer will make determinations regarding the disposition, payment, or <br />removal of the concrete in accordance with Tables 2461-19. <br />
