CASE# J 7
APPROVE CHANGE ORDER TO GLEN REHBEIN COMPANIES FOR
SUNWOOD DRIVE NW STORM SEWER ADDITIONS
By: Leonard Linton, Civil Engineer
Background:
This project was authorized for construction of MSA Streets in Ramsey Town Center.
The work includes extension of trunk Storm sewer through the Ramsey Town Center
Project. The storm sewer installed in this project connects to developer installed utilities
north and south of Sunwood Drive.
The developer requested revision of the trunk storm sewer system to accommodate the
needs of the purchaser of the parcel located in the southwest quadrant of Sunwood Drive
and Zeolite Street. A large regional pond was located on this site in the Final Plat
documents. The purchaser requested that the pond size be reduced to provide more
developable space on this site. The RTC design group submitted a revised design to staff
for review which incorporated redirecting some storm water from the south west pond to
other regional ponds onsite. The changes do not affect the rate of discharge from the site
to the Mississippi River. The Lower Rum River Water Management Organization has
reviewed the proposed changes and found they were acceptable.
The changes to the regional storm sewer system require increasing the size of some of the
pipes installed under Sunwood Drive and relocation of some storm sewer structures.
These modifications are in the project area covered by this contract, however they do not
improve the fiinction of the MSA street so the developer was requested to cover the cost.
The RTC LLC has submitted a letter indicating they will reimburse the city for the cost of
the storm sewer changes in this change order.
Recommendation:
Staff recommends approval of Change Order #4 to Project 03-29.
Action:
Motion to approve Change Order #4 to Improvement Project #03-29 in the amount of
$79,083.30 and adopt attached Resolution #04-11-XXX accepting Change Order #4 to
improvement project #03-29, MSA streets in Ramsey Town Center.
Reviewed By:
Public Works Director
Assistant Public Works Director
CC: 11/09/04
