Wetlands exist <br />along the rear portion of the subject property. These features prohibit construction of a garage in <br />the side or rear yard. The existing attached garage is 780 square feet and the applicant plans to <br />construct an 864 square foot detached accessory structure for a total accessory building square <br />footage of 1,644. The applicant is allowed a total of 4,064 square feet for accessory buildings. <br />He noted it is Staff's opinion that due to mature tree growth and the location of the home of the <br />subject property, there will be no adverse impact the neighbor's view of the streetscape by the <br />construction of the proposed garage. Absent: Board Members Johnson, Sweet, and Watson. <br /> <br />The public hearing closed at 7:48 p.m. <br /> <br />Board Business <br /> <br />Chairperson Nixt called the Board of Adjustment meeting back to order at 7:48 p.m. <br /> <br />Board Member Kociscak questioned if the garage could be turned. <br /> <br />John Purkis, 9061 159th Lane N.W., stated he is proposing to angle the garage mostly for <br />aesthetics. He explained the comer of garage will be protruding in front of the current structure. <br />He said if he built the structure square with the existing garage, he would have to remove mature <br />trees. He stated he will be removing one mature tree due to a damaged top, and this enables him <br />to put the garage at an angle. <br /> <br />Chairperson Nixt questioned how many garage doors there will be. <br /> <br />Mr. Purkis responded there will be one double door and one single door. They will be "kitty- <br />corner" to the existing doors. He said they will not be visible from the street due to the mature <br />trees.
