At the
meeting, the town board asked the Ramsey Fire Chief to provide a proposal of services for their
consideration. A draft proposal was presented to the Council. He explained that the proposal
includes services that match current services received. The proposal would be for the current
eastern portion of Burns Township. That section of Bums generated 14 fire/extrication calls in
2001. The western portion also generated 14 calls. A poll of Ramsey Fire Fighters was in favor
of providing services to Burns Township. Staff recommended that the Council direct staff to
forward the proposal to Burns Township for consideration. If Bums Township accepts the
proposal, then direct the City Attorney to draft an appropriate contract for Council consideration.

Councilmember Zimmerman inquired if the proposal reflects the actual costs.

Director of Public Works/Fire Chief Kapler replied that the hourly rate should cover the City's
costs.

Councihnember Zimmerman stated that when the City of Ramsey contracted with the City of
Anoka years ago he thought the cost was considerably higher.

Director of Public Works/Fire ChiefKapler replied that the costs being proposed are very similar
to their current contract.

Councilmember Hendriksen inquired if the City had to dispatch all their trucks would the fee still
be $300 per hour.

City Council/February 12, 2002
