Director of Public Works/Fire Chief Kapler replied that that is the way the proposal is drafted. <br /> <br />Co uncihnember Anderson inquired if the contract would be for one year. <br /> <br />Director of Public Works/Fire Chief Kapler replied that if the proposal is accepted, it would be in <br />effect for one calendar year. <br /> <br />Councihnember Anderson inquired if it would be possible for the Fire Department to log the <br />expenses for the first year. <br /> <br />Director of Public Works/Fire Chief Kapler replied that the ability to do that would be written <br />into the contract. <br /> <br />Councilmember Hendriksen inquired as to what would be included as costs. <br /> <br />Director of Public Works/Fire Chief Kapler replied staff costs, vehicle use, equipment use, fuel <br />cost, and maintenance. <br /> <br />Councilmember Hendriksen stated that he has been under the impression that the Fire <br />Department is staffed to support the needs of Ramsey and if they compare the investment the <br />City has made to protect the City of Ramsey in comparison to the fees that would be paid by <br />Burns the figures do not even come close. <br /> <br />Director of Public Works/Fire Chief Kapler noted that in a year they typically do 350 to 400 runs <br />in Ramsey and last year in the area looking to be covered there were only 14 calls. <br /> <br />Cotmcilmember Anderson inquired if the Fire Department would have any say on their fire <br />safety standards. <br /> <br />Director of Public Works/Fire Chief Kapler replied that the contract would include fire safety <br />activities as well. <br /> <br />Councilmember Anderson inquired if administratively Bums Township respects the Ramsey Fire <br />Department. <br /> <br />Councilmember Hendriksen stated that he resented the fact that there was a time constraint <br />attached to the decision. <br /> <br />Director of Public Works/Fire Chief Kapler explained that the Fire Department has received calls <br />for years inquiring why they don't cover Bums Township.
