Councilmember Hendrikgen gtated that they don't have any idea what other City'g charge for <br />similar services. <br /> <br />Director of Public Works/Fire Chief Kapler noted that the fees being proposed was what Oak <br />Grove was currently charging. <br /> <br />Motion by Councihnember Kurak, seconded by Councilmember Hendriksen, to direct staff to <br />forward the proposal to Burns Township for consideration and if Burns Township accepts the <br />proposal then direct the City Attorney to draft the appropriate contract for Council consideration. <br /> <br />Further discussion: Councilmember Hendriksen inquired if they were to determine that the rates <br />being proposed would they be bound to those rates. <br /> <br />Motion was withdrawn. <br /> <br />Director of Public Works/Fire Chief Kapler inquired if the cost was the only concern with the <br />proposal. <br /> <br />Councilmember Hendriksen stated that they need to make sure that the they cover all their real <br />costs, including depreciation of equipment and make sure that the City is covered well enough so <br />that they are not subsidizing their fire protection. He recommended putting together a proposal <br />that does not bind the City into a certain fee to allow staff to do some necessary research before <br />making a final decision. <br /> <br />City Attorney Goodrich recommended that the Council direct staff to forward the proposal for <br />consideration contingent upon the Fire Chief determining if the charges are reasonable. <br /> <br />Motion by Councilmember Kurak, seconded by Councilmember Anderson, to direct staff to <br />forward the proposal to Burns Township for consideration, contingent upon the Fire Chief <br />determining if similar fees charged by other communities are comparable to what is being quoted <br />to Burns Township and if Burns Township accepts the proposal in concept then direct the City <br />Attorney to draft an appropriate contract for Council consideration and final approval. <br /> <br />Further discussion: Councilmember Hendriksen inquired if the proposal was not binding. City <br />Attorney Goodrich replied that was correct. <br /> <br />Motion carried. Voting Yes: Mayor Gamec, and Councilmembers Kurak, Anderson, <br />Hendriksen, and Zimmerman.
