SECTIO~ II - DEFINITIONS <br /> <br />2.1 Floodplain <br /> <br /> Lands adjacent to rivers, lakes, creeks, drainageways, marshes and <br />other lowland areas which are subject to inundation by runoff from the <br />100 year regional storm or the 100 year snow, melt runoff event. <br /> <br />2.2 Sewage Disposal Ordinance <br /> <br /> An ordinance of the City of Ramsey adopted July 1977 and known <br />as "An Ordinance Providing for the Construction and ~.laintenance of <br />Sewage Disposal Systems" and any subsequent amendments to that ordinance. <br /> <br />2.3 Soil Absorption System <br /> <br /> A system con§tructed in conformance to the City of Ramse. y Sewage <br />Disposal Ordinance for the purpose of the disposal of septic tank <br />effluent by soil absorption. <br /> <br />2.4 Soil Permeability <br /> <br /> The quality of the soil that permits water or air to pass through <br />it is expressed as the time in minutes required to pass one inch of wa <br />through a saturated cross section of soil; it is determined by field test <br />procedures outlined in the City of Ramsey Sewage Disposal Ordinance. <br /> <br />Slowly Permeable Soils - Soils having percolation rates in <br />excess of 60 minutes per.inch. <br /> <br />Moderately Permeable Soils -.Soils having percolation rates <br />of 30 minutes per inch to 60 minutes per inch. <br /> <br />Rapidly Permeable Soils - Soils having percolations of less <br />than 30 minutes per inch. <br /> <br />2.5 Soil Survey <br /> <br /> The systemized study of soils including the study of morphological <br />soil characteristics, soil behavior, and the classification of soils <br />into defined types and other classification units; soil mapping to show <br />the boundaries of soils and their geographic distribution, and the <br />prediction of their behavior for specific uses or management systems <br />as defined by Standard Soil Survey, USDA. <br /> <br />2.6 Watertable <br /> <br />The uppermost part of the soil that is wholly saturated with water. <br /> <br />2.7 Class I Lands <br /> <br /> Lands on which the watertable remains greater than 6 feet below the <br />surface through the year and: <br /> <br />a. The soil is moderately permeable with slopes not exceeding 12% <br /> <br />b. The soil is rapidlY permeable with slopes not exceeding 18%. <br /> <br /> <br />
