Further discussion: Councilmember Hendriksen stated that the original concept was that they <br />would have the main thoroughfare in a development be a public road with private drives off that <br />public road. Now they are going to allow 600-foot collector streets going through the <br />development, which he thought was a disservice to the City. Councilmember Zimmerman stated <br />that he felt that the 300 feet would have been adequate. <br /> <br />Motion carried. Voting Yes: Mayor Gamec, Councilmembers Kurak, and Anderson. Voting <br />No: Councilmembers Hendriksen, and Zimmerman. <br /> <br />4) <br /> <br />Consider the Addition of Turn Lanes for Armstrong Boulevard at Alpine Drive <br />The Public Works Committee recommended that the City Council direct staff to prepare a <br />change order for the installation of right turn lanes only at northbound and southbound <br />C.R. #83 at Alpine Drive and westbound Alpine Drive at Variolite Street. <br /> <br />Motion by Councilmember Zimmerman, seconded by Councilmember Kurak, to ratify the <br />recommendation of the Public Works Committee. <br /> <br />Further discussion: Councilmember Hendriksen stated that one thing that contributes to the <br />difficulty in seeing the intersection of Armstrong Boulevard and Alpine Drive is that there is a <br />private light in the yard that makes it appear that the intersection is further up. He thought that <br />sonqething needed to be done with the light. <br /> <br />Motion by Councilmember Hendriksen, seconded by Councilmember Zimmerman, to direct staff <br />to resolve the street lighting issue at the intersection of Armstrong Boulevard and Alpine Drive. <br /> <br />Motion carried. The Committee wished for additional <br />tilne to review the recommendation. <br /> <br />6) <br /> <br />Consider Potential Alignment of 167th Avenue NW between CSAH #5 and C.R. #83 <br />This item was tabled until the April Public Works Committee Meeting <br /> <br />7) <br /> <br />Receive Draft Copy of the T.H. #10 Corridor Study <br /> <br />The Public Works Committee recommended eliminating the most southerly alignment <br />fi'om the study as an alignment option due to the implications and potential <br />environmental concerns with the Mississippi River as well as the challenges with the <br /> <br />City Council/March 26, 2002 <br /> Page 8 of 25 <br /> <br /> <br />
