Councilmember Kurak inquired about obtaining an agreement with Town Center, LLC to put <br />in a turn around at the location of the dirt road. <br /> <br />Assistant Public Works Director Olson replied this would be required, but the plan will come <br />forward at a time when that connection could already be made. <br /> <br />Motion by Councilmember Cook, seconded by Councilmember Kurak, to approve the sketch <br />plan of Town Center Gardens 3rd Addition contingent upon compliance with City Staff Review <br />Letter dated July 30, 2004, revised October 29, 2004, revised December 10, 2004. <br /> <br />Further discussion: Mayor Pro Tem Zimmerman commented with the building of hundreds of <br />townhomes in the area it might be advantageous to the City to look at more of the jogging trails <br />in this area. He suggested the Park Commission take another look at that in anticipation of <br />more townhomes coming in. City Administrator Norman commented additional trails could be <br />a benefit around the wetland. Councilmember Elvig stated he has had concern about how deep <br />thc apron is for parking; he thinks that was 24 feet. He noted there are small parking areas, <br />which was a concern. He stated the motion when this was approved was to stagger the <br />buildings. He indicated he would like to see more texture and would let that requirement go. <br />Councilmember Kurak inquired about sidewalks. Assistant Public Works Director Olson <br />replied the sidewalks are located on one side of the street. Councilmember Kurak stated she <br />has discussed this many times, and when there are so many people in an area there should be <br />sidewalks on both sides of the street. Assistant Public Works Director Olson replied he does <br />not disagree, but that is not included in City Code. Councilmember Knrak stated the sidewalks <br />are a safety issue and it is a very important issue. <br /> <br />The consensus of the Council was to add the discussion of sidewalk requirements to a work <br />session, <br /> <br />Further discussion: Councilmember Cook noted this is only a sketch plan review, and park <br />dedication will be discussed with the Park iCommission. He suggested it be passed on to the <br />Park Commission that park dedication might be met by a trail around the wetland. <br />Councilmember Kurak inquired if sidewalks could also be requested. Assistant Public Works <br />Director Olson replied it can be requested. Mayor Pro Tern Zimmerman stated he agrees with <br />Councilmember Elvig regarding the improved appearance by staggering the buildings. <br /> <br />Motion carried. Voting Yes: Mayor Pro Tem Zimmerman, Councilmembers Cook, Kurak, <br />Elvig, and Pearson. Voting No: None.
