Mayor Gamec stated the hardship was a requirement and they have granted so many variances
based on looks of the area but he would not have any problems with it.

Councihnember Kurak stated there were three letters from residents and they had no problem
with this at all.

Councilmember Anderson stated she would go along with the Planning and Zoning Commission
and Board of Adjustments, and felt the letter from Bob Limbic made a lot of sense.

Mr. Ronallo stated he had been in the area since 1965 and grew up in the City.

Councilmember Anderson stated the angled garage did not line up with the rest of area.

Mr. Ronallo stated he wanted the garage to flow with the rest of the house and still be able to get
the driveway in there without taking out the tree.

Councilmember Anderson stated most attached garages did not sit at an angle with the house.
She stated the garage is still sitting at a funny angle compared to the rest of the neighborhood and
she did understand it would be a nuisance in the beginning to move the pool.

Mr. Ronallo stated the pool was a permanent move when he installed it fifteen years ago. He
stated he could not add onto any part of the house and he needed this room so this was the only
option to take.

Councilmember Zimmerman stated this would be encroaching on the neighbor's front yard
setback.

Mr. Ronallo stated he did not think so because there was quite a few shrubs there.
Councilmember Hendriksen stated he would like to hear what City Attorney Goodrich thought.
City Attorney Goodrich reviewed the four criteria.

Councilmember Zimmerman asked if page 287, were the findings of fact.

Community Development Director Frolik stated these were the findings of fact from the
Planning and Zoning Commission. The Council's findings of fact would begin on page 291, and
the variables would start with item 12.

Councilmember Hendriksen asked if Mr. Ronallo could live with a forty-foot setback.

Mr. Ronallo stated the entry would not line up with the breezeway type look. He stated he could
straighten the garage out but he would need to take out the existing tree.

City Council/June 25, 2002
