Councilmember Anderson asked what would happen if he straightened it out. <br /> <br />Mr. Ronallo stated he would need to move it farther west to save the tree. <br /> <br />Mayor Gamec asked what the width of the proposed garage would be. <br /> <br />Mr. Ronallo stated it was 26 feet by 30 feet. <br /> <br />Councilmember Hendriksen asked if they could look at the aerial for this site. <br /> <br />City Engineer Jankowski showed the aerial to the City Council. <br /> <br />Mayor Gamec asked how far in he was from the west property line. <br /> <br />Mr. Ronallo stated it was about thirty feet. <br /> <br />Community Development Director Frolik stated that the 26-foot setback is excessive but there is <br />room for compromise. <br /> <br />Councilmember Hendriksen asked what the hardship would be. <br /> <br />Mayor Gamec stated the hardship would be major renovation in the back yard to the pool and <br />digging up the sod. <br /> <br />Councilmember Hendriksen stated it would be reasonable to allow a forty-foot setback because <br />that is what the rules will be. <br /> <br />Mayor Gamec asked if they could compromise at 30 feet. <br /> <br />Councilmember Hendriksen stated he should shorten the angle of this and move it to forty feet. <br />Councilmember Anderson asked if the depth of the new garage was the same as the old garage. <br />Mr. Ronallo stated it was the same. <br /> <br />The City Council reviewed the following Findings: <br /> <br /> 12. That the special conditions do result from the actions of the Applicants. <br /> 13. That the variance requested is not the minimum variance that would alleviate the <br /> hardship. <br /> 14. That if granted, the variance will not permit a use that is prohibited in the R-1 <br /> Residential District. <br /> 15.
