Mr. Peterson inquired as to where the path would be defined because each person would have to <br />have a specific route. <br /> <br />Mayor Gamec stated that if they were going to do that they would have to charge $50 for the <br />sticker. <br /> <br />Councilmember Hendriksen stated snowmobilers would have to decide whether they want to ride <br />from their homes or pay the $50 for the sticker and be given a designated route. <br /> <br />Councilmember Kurak stated that each time the issue is discussed they receive more input, but <br />winter is coming and staff would like to have some regulation put in place. She recommended <br />that they table action to allow for further discussion and give citizens an opportunity to join the <br />snowmobile club to continue work on the ordinance. <br /> <br />Mr. Peterson stated that he would make himself available whenever to continue discussions on <br />the matter. He noted that one other suggestion that had been made in the past is that snowmobile <br />club member be allowed to patrol snowmobiling in a recognized fashion. <br /> <br />City Attorney Goodrich explained that at this point the Council could move to continue the <br />public hearing to a specific date or close the public hearing and make the appropriate motion. <br /> <br />Tim Barthel, 14160 Junkite Street NW, Ramsey, questioned if they really thought that someone <br />who lives six houses from Armstrong Boulevard won't break the law to get onto Armstrong <br />Boulevard rather than trailer their vehicle. <br /> <br />Motion by Councihnember Hendriksen, seconded by Councilmember Zimmerman, to continue <br />the public hearing to a date to be determined after exploring the aspect of permits and routes for <br />possible inclusion in the recreational vehicle ordinance. <br /> <br />Motion carried. Voting Yes: Councilmembers Hendriksen, Zimmerman, Anderson, and Kurak. <br />Voting No: Mayor Gamec. <br /> <br />Councilmember Anderson inquired as to how they could include ATV people in the discussion <br />process as well as residents opposed to snowmobiles. <br /> <br />Mayor Gamec replied that this process has been going on for seven years and people have to <br />abide by the laws. He stated that something has to be done and he does not want to shut off the <br />entire City. <br /> <br />Counci hnember Hendriksen stated that it seems that the permit option is the only way to preserve <br />snowmobiling in the restricted area and give protection to those who don't like snowmobiles. <br /> <br />Al Pearson, 14821 Bowers Drive NW, Ramsey, stated that he has been one of the people <br />complaining about snowmobiles.
