Staff met with Mike Roen of V-Tech motors on Thursday, May 6th to complete a preliminary <br />interview. Mike, herself, and Chairperson Riley have begun taping the Ramsey Business <br />Connection at QCTV studio. The segment with Chairperson Riley will be called "Chatting with <br />the Chair". <br /> <br />Case #2: Monument Sign Costs <br /> <br />Associate Planner Wald reported that Scan:Sullivan met with Mike Chambers of Brock White <br />Company and discussed different sign types and the costs associated with them. He also met <br />with T.J Associates Printing, which is located in Ramsey. TJ Associates Printing did not have <br />any prices available at the time. Mr. Sullivan would like to get opinions from the EDA regarding <br />the design of the signs. <br /> <br />There was considerable discussion regarding the possible location of monument signs in the <br />City, which included the locations of industrial/business parks and entrances to the City. It was <br />noted TIF funds are available for signs located in industrial parks. <br /> <br />The consensus of the EDA was to direct staffto obtain costs and preliminary designs for <br />"Welcome to Ramsey" and "Ramsey Business Park" signs. <br /> <br />Member Steffen noted the Ramsey Rotary has expressed interest in doing a "Welcome to <br />Ramsey" sign. <br /> <br />Associate Planner Wald indicated she would contact the Ramsey Rotary regarding the possibility <br />of a "Welcome to Ramsey" sign, with the Ramsey Rotary included on the sign. <br /> <br />Case #3: Community Connection Award <br /> <br />Associate Planner Wald reported that staff is proposing to name the community pride award the <br />Community Connection Award. She requested input from the EDA on the following criteria for <br />electing a recipient of the Community connection Award: <br /> <br />2. <br /> <br />3. <br /> <br />4. <br /> <br />Supports/donates to Ramsey's local events: Happy Days, Safety Camp, Business <br />Appreciation Day, Environmental Expo., and National Night Out.. <br />Participates in local organizations: Ramsey Rotary, Ramsey Lions, Anoka Area <br />Chamber of Commerce. <br />Promotes City of Ramsey on bUsiness letterhead, business vehicles, and equipment and <br />advertising. <br />Supports the local school district and related programs. <br /> <br />Associate Planner Wald explained staff would suggest that the Community Connection Award <br />be presented during a fall Business Network Meeting. After reviewing the criteria of the <br />Business of the Year recipient, it appears that there is a little overlap in the proposed criteria for <br />the Community Connection Award vs. the Business of the Year Award.
