Therefore the Community Connection Award would <br />focus on any business' participation in the community. <br /> <br />Member Kiefer asked if an organization like the Ramsey Rotary would be eligible for the award. <br /> <br />Member Gromberg asked if an individual would be eligible for the award, or if it would only <br />relate to organizations. <br /> <br />The consensus of the EDA was that the award would be available to a business or "entity" which <br />would include individuals and organizations like the Ramsey Rotary and Ramsey Lions. <br /> <br />Associate Planner Wald indicated the policy would be drafted to state that individuals, groups, <br />entities, or businesses would be eligible for the award. <br /> <br />Chairperson Riley suggested an additional criterion to state "Other items to be considered by the <br />selection committee. <br /> <br />It was noted the paragraph following the criteria should be changed to state "It would seem <br />appropriate that a committee be .assembled that is knowledgeable about what <br />businesses/nominees..." <br /> <br />The consensus of the EDA was that the award would be presented in the spring, rather than at the <br />fall Business Network Meeting. <br /> <br />Case #4: Rum River Commercial Node <br /> <br />She reported that staff has received several phone calls from area residents along the commercial <br />node of 167th and Highway #47 stating that have been made aware by a "neighbor" that the City <br />is working on a master plan for the subject area and are concerned that they as neighbors are not <br />being notified. Public participation is important and has its part in the planning process. Prior to <br />receiving several phones calls from area residents, staff anticipated that the public would be <br />involved in the process at a later date when more conceptual plans were developed. However, <br />due to the recent phone calls and anticipated negative disposition from the neighborhood, staff <br />feels it may be time to involve the public at an informal setting. The format for the meeting <br />could be held like an open house with staff, HKGi, and EDA members present. Several different <br />strategies for an open house format could be utilized and will need to be discussed further. <br /> <br />Member Steffen questioned who has been interacting with HKGi. <br /> <br />Associate Planner Wald replied staff has been in contact with HKGi. She explained she <br />attempted to get a meeting together with the business owners to get more input into the concept <br />plans, however, many of them were gone until the middle of April.
