Motion by Councilmember Jeffrey, secohded by Councilmember Pearson, to recommend the <br />City Council authorize the hiring of the AsSistant Finance Officer position at a not to exceed <br />wage of $32.31~$33.71 plus benefits and three weeks of vacation annually. <br /> <br />Motion carried. Voting Yes: Chairperson Cook, and Councilmembers Jeffrey and Pearson. <br />Voting No: None. <br /> <br />Case #3: Performance Review for City Administrator (Full Council present) <br /> <br />Assistant City Administrator Nelson indicated the summary of the performance evaluations of <br />the City Administrator is included in the Council's packet. <br /> <br />The Council discussed the performance evaluations of the City Administrator. Mayor Gamec <br />noted overall the evaluations included very favorable comments. He recommends a $100 per <br />month increase into the City Administrator's retirement fund. He explained there is a step <br />program that must be followed in financial~ compensation for City employees, and Mr. Norman is <br />currently at the top of his range. <br /> <br />Councilmember Elvig stated he appreciates Mr. Norman's professionalism and ability and his <br />willingness to tackle tough issues. <br /> <br />Councilmember Pearson commended Mr. Norman for the way he leads the charge when working <br />with other cities. <br /> <br />Councilmember Cook commended Mr. Norman on his performance and stated he has done a <br />good j ob of taking charge and looking at things more regionally. <br /> <br />Councihnember Strommen expressed her appreciation for Mr. Norman's forward vision and his <br />commitment to moving the City forward. <br /> <br />Councilmember Jeffrey commented as anew member to the Council, from the community <br />perspective Mr. Norman does a good job of representing the City at all City functions. <br /> <br />Councilmember Olson stated as a new member to the Council she appreciates both before and <br />after the election how approachable Mr. Norman has been and his willingness to share his ideas <br />and knowledge. <br /> <br />Councilmember Jeffrey suggested Mr. Norman conduct a self-evaluation in the future to <br />benchmark his performance. <br /> <br />Motion by Mayor Gamec, seconded by Councilmember Pearson, to recommend that the City <br />Council authorize a $100 per month increase: to the retirement fund of City Administrator <br />Norman. <br /> <br />PersonnelCommittee/January 25, 2005 <br /> Page 4 of 5 <br /> <br /> <br />
