He stated
that overall, the response has been favorable. He stated that some property owners
notified the City that they did not want the field work on their property, and others
notified the City that they wanted a 24 hour notice. He stated that some people called
with concerns about the intent of the project, but after speaking with them they were
actually pleased.

Board Member Max stated that at the EXPO there were some nice displays about the
objectives of the project and what was going on in the wetlands around them. He noted
that this was an opportunity for education.

Chairperson McDilda stated that one of the joint purposes was to have the Park and
Recreation Commission join EPB to help with educating neighborhoods.

Board Member Max suggested going into some ofthe parks to have an education session.

Coordinator Anderson stated there was a list of e-mails after the EXPO with a new EPB
e-mail address set up to respond to. He stated there is
actually some work being done in the park land itself. He stated he could look for more
places to post information.

Chairperson McDilda asked the EPB members to come prepared for the next meeting
with a couple of recommendations that tied into wherever work is proceeding. He
suggested that if they are working close to one of the parks it might be a good idea to try
and tie something informational in with the project.

Board Member Bentz asked if some of the residents might be provided with a brochure or
door hanger about the project.

Chairperson McDilda stated that there was a cost associated with that concept but
suggested using the website to provide more information.

Coordinator Anderson concurred that using the website would be preferable.

Board Member Bentz suggested a simple handout with text and no graphics. Board
Member Bentz stated he didn't think people were aware of the website.

Environmental Policy Board/June 5, 2006
