On January 15, 2002, Staff brought forth a proposal to implement an interim
policy for the use of private streets. The consensus of the Committee was to talk to neighboring
communities to see what they have done with private streets. At the annual City Engineers
conference that was held at the end of January and at the Anoka County City Engineer's meeting
that was also held in January, staff had two opportunities to discuss the use of private streets with
other communities. The following was the results of the communities that were polled (Anoka,
Andover, Blaine, Coon Rapids and Fridley):

· None of these communities have a written policy
· All of the reviews are handled on a case by case basis
· All were interested in receiving a copy of the implemented policy

Public Works Committee/February 19, 2002
