Case #10: Consider Selection of NW Trunk Sanitary Sewer Alternative <br /> <br />Assistant Public Works Director Olson explained that the City has been considering five <br />alternative routes for the extension of sanitary sewer service to an area known as the Northwest <br />at'ca, which has petitioned for this service. Following review of public comment and of the <br />adwmtagcs and disadvantages of each alternative, the City Council concurred with staff <br />recommendation at a work session held on March 15, 2005 that Option No. 3 be selected as the <br />alignment to be considered in conjunction with this sewer extension request. During this work <br />session lbo consensus of the Council in continuing the public involvement component of this <br />process wats to direct staff to prepare two letters. One letter would be distributed to all those that <br />attended the February open house informing them that the preferred alignment, Option No. 3, has <br />been selected. The other letter would be sent to those property owners affected by this selected <br />alignment informing them that this route has been chosen and informing them of a follow up <br />intbrmational meeting. <br /> <br />Mr. Zaetsch stated Councilmember Elvig clarified something for him in that each dwelling has a <br />set of fixed fees, and property owners with more frontage should not worry. <br /> <br />Motion by Councihnember Cook, seconded by Councilmember Pearson, to select Option No. 3 <br />for thc extension of the sanitary sewer to the northwest area petitioning for sewer service, and <br />that all open house attendees of February 7, 2005 be notified of this selection, and also that <br />residents contiguous to Option No. 3 be notified of this selection and that a follow up meeting be <br />conducted with these property owners. <br /> <br />Further discussion: Councilmember Strommen suggested staff develop a list of frequently asked <br />questions about sac, wac and trunk charges to put on the web. Councilmember Cook suggested <br />this inlbrmation also be included in the next Ramsey Resident. <br /> <br />(;ouncihnember Elvig indicated he will be abstaining from this vote, as people still associate him <br />with the Gun Club. <br /> <br />Mr)tion carried. Abstain: Councilmember <br /> <br />The meeting was recessed at 9:28 p.m. and reconvened at 9:40 p.m. <br /> <br />Case #11: Approve Contract for Design of Water Supply Wells 7 & 8 <br /> <br />Civil 1 ;,ngineer II L inton indicated the 2005 CIP identified construction of Water Supply Wells 7 <br />& 8 in 2005. The comprehensive water plan identified the need for these wells and associated <br />piping to serve the needs of the City as Ramsey Town Center and other developments are <br />compleled. Bolton & Menk, Inc. has submitted a proposal for performing the design of these <br />improvements and providing construction administration for these projects. The proposal is <br />included in the Council packet.
