CASE <br /> <br /> REQUEST FOR A CONDITIONA_L USE PERMIT TO <br />EXCEED ACCESSORY STRUCTURE SPACE RESTRICTIONS; <br />CASE OF CHARLES LIND <br /> By: Megan Wald, Community. Development Assistant <br /> <br />Background: <br /> <br />The City of Ramsey has been working with Charles Lind for the past couple of years in regard to <br />off-street parking violations on his property located at 14331 Armstrong Boulevard. Mr. Lind <br />currently stores three semi-tractors, several vehicles, two boats, and a bobcat outdoors on the <br />property. The existing attached garage contains several collector cars that are in various states of <br />restoration and does not provide enough space to store any more vehicles or equipment indoors. <br /> <br />In an attempt tO remedy all code enforcement issues on a permanent basis, the City received an <br />application from Charles Lind for a conditional use permit to exceed the total amount of <br />accessory building space allowed on his property. <br /> <br />The following items are enclosed for your information: <br /> <br />a) Site location map <br />b) Site plan <br />c) She pictures <br />d) Letter from Applicant <br />e) Proposed findings of fact <br />f) Proposed conditional use perrrJt <br /> <br />Notification: <br /> <br />In accordance w/th State statute, City Staff notifed owners of prope~"ry with.in 350 feet of the <br />Subject Property of the request and the public hearing date. <br /> <br />Observations: <br /> <br />The subject property is zoned RI-R Single Family Rural Residential and adjacent properties to <br />the north, south, east and west are also zoned Rl-K. Mr. Linds property is also located in close <br />proximity (to the north) of property zoned B-3 Highway Business along R.iverdale Drive <br />(Monarch Home and Canvas Craft). <br /> <br />The parcel is 2.5 acres in size and City Code allows a maximum of 2,064 square feet of <br />accessory structure space. Charles Lind has a 1,792 (28' x 64') square foot attached garage. <br />Charles is proposing to construct a detached garage at a size of 3,200 (40' x 80') square feet, <br />which would bring the total amount of garage space to 4,992 square feet. This is a 2,928 square <br />foot overage in allowable accessory structure space. ~' <br /> <br />-89- <br /> <br /> <br />
