Jeff Lansburg, 7070 148~t' Avenue N.W., Ramsey, stated many neighbors were unable to attend <br />this meeting, although the consensus is that the density is too high for that area. He stated that 38 <br />units would be too much, and reiterated that there is no stop sign in the development. <br /> <br />Jeffrey Menthe, 14726 Ramsey Boulevard, asked why this development should go in. He said <br />his understanding is that in rezoning, every time industrial is taken out and housing is put in, <br />taxes rise. <br /> <br />Motion by Commissioner Reeve, seconded by Vice Chair Kociscak, to close the public hearing. <br /> <br />Motion Carried. Voting Yes: Vice Chair Kociscak, Commissioners Reeve, Johnson, Sweet, and <br />Watson. Voting No: None. Absent: Chairperson Nixt. <br /> <br />The public hearing closed at 8:40 p.m. <br /> <br />Commission Business <br /> <br />Vice Chair Kociscak called the regular meeting of the Planning Commission back to order at <br />8:40 p.m. <br /> <br />Commissioner Johnson asked Community Development Director Frolik to explain the <br />designation for this area on the Comprehensive Plan. <br /> <br />Community Development Director Frolik explained that very early on in the process of updating <br />the comprehensive plan, low density residential was proposed for this area. It then went back to <br />"places to work" in the current draft. <br /> <br />Commissioner Watson stated there are five houses adjacent to the property, two of which will <br />have five new neighbors each. These homeowners did not buy their properties expecting to see <br />that there. He said he would personally find that devastating. <br /> <br />Motion by Commissioner Johnson, seconded by Commissioner Sweet, to adopt findings of fact <br />unfavorable to the applicant and recommend that the Council deny the request to rezone Outlot A <br />of Regency Pond to R-3 Urban Residential. <br /> <br />Motion Carried. Voting Yes: Vice Chair Kociscak, Commissioners Johnson, Sweet, Reeve, and <br />Watson. Voting No: None. Absent: Chairperson Nixt. <br /> <br />Case #3: <br /> <br />Continuation of a Request for a Conditional Use Permit to Grade Soils; Case <br />of Lance Van Norman <br /> <br />Vice Chair Kociscak closed the regular portion of the Planning Commission meeting at 8:50 p.m. <br />in order to call the public hearing to order. <br /> <br />Planning Commission/August 7, 2001 <br /> Page 10 of 25 <br /> <br /> <br />
