Public Hearing Vice Chair Kociscak called the public hearing to order at 8:50 p.m. Presentation Principal Planner Trudgeon stated this case required a continuation to the next meeting. There was no citizen input. The public hearing closed at 8:50 p.m. Commission Business Vice Chair Kociscak called the regular meeting of the Planning Commission back to order at 8:51 p.m. Motion by Commissioner Johnson, seconded by Commissioner Reeve, to continue this public hearing and request to the September meeting of the Planning Commission. Motion Carried. Voting Yes: Vice Chair Kociscak, Commissioners Johnson, Reeve, Sweet, and Watson. Voting No: None. Absent: Chairperson Nixt. Case #4: Request for a Conditional Use Permit to Have a Sign in a Residential District; Case of Tim Bergerson Vice Chair Kociscak closed the regular portion of the Planning Commission meeting at 8:51 p.m. in order to call the public hearing to order. Public Hearing Vice Chair Kociscak called the public hearing to order at 8:51 p.m. Community Development Director Frolik stated that the City received an application from Timothy Bergerson for a conditional use permit to display an advertising sign in a residential district on the property located at 6211 167* Avenue. Mr. Bergerson is self-employed and has a landscaping business. He parks his commercial vehicles and equipment at his residence (6211 167th Avenue N.W.). He does comply with the requirement to have his commercial vehicles and equipment stored indoors or in an area that screens the equipment to a degree of 75% from the public road and adjacent properties. However, Mr. Bergerson also desires to advertise his business and erected 32 square foot sign at the entrance to his property. Mr. Bergerson's property is zoned R-1 Rural Residential and City Code does not make provisions for advertising signs in residential districts. Planning Commission/August 7, 2001 Page 11 of 25
