Commissioner Reeve commented it behooves the applicant to try to keep the property clean. He
hoped this new structure would help that issue. He stated when he saw the property, he was
surprised at the number of vehicles there and was concerned that Mr. Lind was operating some
type of business.

Mr. Lind commented the vehicles are from a former business.

Lisa Pederson, 14401 Armstrong Boulevard, Ramsey, asked Mr. Lind how often he would need
to drive a big truck out from the back yard and how early the truck would need to be started in
the morning.

Mr. Lind answered he has been working two or three days per week. The truck would not need
to be driven out more than once per day. There are times he is gone for a week at a time. He
said he would be starting the truck early in the day.

Someone in the audience questioned the safety of the waste material in repairing these vehicles.

Mr. Lind replied he does not do the work himself; he takes the vehicles to service people. He
said his fiance's brother, who works for the City, disposes of the waste material.

Andy Pregler, 14290 Alpaca Street, Ramsey, commented this building site is 40 by 80 feet. He
suggested that three semis would take up three-fourths of the building. Though he liked the idea
of the building, he said he was concerned about the mess.

Mr. Lind explained each tractor is 30 feet long. He said that three tractors will fit in less than
half the building and there will be room for the bobcat, lawn mower, and eight vehicles.

Larry Lund, 14322 Alpaca Street, Ramsey, stated there is an easement on his property that
carries into Mr. Lind's property. He questioned where on his property that easement ends.

Community Development Director explained there is typically five feet on all common property
lines. She indicated Mr. London may have a drainage easement. If Mr. Lind would be
encroaching, it would be addressed when he applied for his permit.

Marguerite Henke, 14311 Armstrong Boulevard NW, Ramsey, said she has to be in favor of
building this garage, as it is the only way to get the vehicles inside. If the City would put
restrictions in with the approval, it would help. She feared that as it moves forward, there will be
a noise problem while Mr. Lind works on the vehicles.

Commissioner Watson questioned if Mr. Lind would be building the structure himself.

Planning Commission/August 7, 2001
