drainage disaster and the road has become the lowest area for the water to run. A daycare in the <br />neighborhood has had to put planks out at some points to get into her property. <br /> <br />Councihnember Hendriksen stated that if the road were a paved road, the City would pay 50 <br />percent of the maintenance costs under the current policy. When a paved road needs to be <br />sealcoated the City pays half the cost. Residents who live on paved roads get certain <br />maintenance and the City should provide a similar amount of maintenance to those who live on a <br />dirt roads. <br /> <br />Director of Public Works/Fire Chief Kapler suggested having Public Works staff put together <br />some options including obtaining some easements. <br /> <br />Councilmember Hendriksen inquired if the road is a dedicated street why is there not 60 feet to <br />work with. <br /> <br />Director of Public Works/Fire Chief replied that there is 60 feet, but the lowest point of the <br />property is the road. <br /> <br />Councihnember Hendriksen stated that the road becomes the lowest point because it continues to <br />get worn down. He felt that the road needs to be built back up. <br /> <br />Councihnember Zimmennan requested that staff research the options and bring it back to the <br />next Committee meeting. <br /> <br />Councilmember Anderson stated that grading a dirt road on a regular basis can be more <br />expensive then an overlay. She stated that they need to consider the costs involved. <br /> <br />Director of Public Works Kapler replied that staff will include some cost estimates. <br /> <br />Councihnember Hendriksen inquired as to what the largest assessed overlay project was last <br />year. <br /> <br />City Engineer Jankowski replied approximately $68,000. <br /> <br />Councilmember Hendriksen replied that in that one project the City paid $34,000, so paying <br />$5,000 is nothing ill comparison. <br /> <br />4. Review Storm Water Utility Applications <br /> <br />City Engineer Olson noted that he is currently in the process of meeting with business owners <br />who have submitted credit applications.
