Public Works Supervisor Reimer stated they are about four feet, and blowers are about five feet. <br />Chairperson Elvig stated they move about 30 miles an hour. <br /> <br />Public Works Supervisor Reimer stated they are very heavy, and they have a 110 horsepower <br />engine. <br /> <br />Assistant Director of Public Works Olson asked how that worked in the budget during a light year <br />like they just experienced. <br /> <br />Public Works Supervisor Reimer stated they had 20 events where they had to sand, and they are <br />worried about the road surface. He stated if it's a foot or one inch, it's still the same amount of <br />salt to clean it up. <br /> <br />Chairperson Elvig asked how they find the sidewalk if they get those plows. <br /> <br />Public Works Director Kapler stated they have a lot of experts. <br /> <br />Chairperson Elvig asked if there was something in the ordinance. <br /> <br />Public Works Supervisor Reimer stated that they do a lot of staking, and that really helps. <br /> <br />Assistant Director of Public Works Olson asked about the sprinkler systems. <br /> <br />Public Works Supervisor Reimer stated that they do not replace sprinkling systems. <br /> <br />Chairperson Elvig stated they come back with a wing truck so they plow things out, and a couple <br />of days later come back with a truck. He stated you have to maintain the boulevard as an <br />obligation. <br /> <br />Public Works Supervisor Reimer stated it's kind of a Catch 22 situation, and this year he thought <br />they had two complaints, and two were on a trail, and one was in the yard. <br /> <br />Chairperson Elvig stated that it looks like sod damage. <br /> <br />Public Works Supervisor Reimer stated if they were to hit a mailbox, either the resident could put <br />up a fancier mailbox and the city would send them a $75 check, or the city would erect one for <br />them. <br /> <br />Mayor Gamec stated he knew it was policy and asked what would happen in the developments <br />with the nice wooden boxes. <br /> <br />Public Works Supervisor Reimer stated that it would still be $75. <br /> <br />Chairperson Elvig asked when they would bring this step forward on the equipment. <br /> <br /> Public Works Committee / April 19, 2005 <br /> Page 4 of 21 <br /> <br /> <br />
