City of Ramsey <br /> 2008 Comprehensive Plan Update <br /> • Economic development <br /> i Development The City of Ramsey has in place an Economic Commission, the <br /> primary objective of which is to aid, assist, and promote the growth and expansion <br /> of commercial, retail, and industrial development in the City of Ramsey. This portion <br /> of the comprehensive plan update will include <br /> an assessment of existing city policies and <br /> programs for business assistance, as well as <br /> existing economic conditions, future market , <br /> information, and projections. ? <br /> • Public facilities <br /> Public facilities will be reviewed and assessed, - <br /> including water, sewer, police, and fire services. � ,- M <br /> g <br /> An assessment will be made of current services <br /> and future needs based on projected growth. A <br /> review of regional system compliance will also be incorporated. <br /> • Parks and open space <br /> The Ramsey Parks Department is responsible for approximately 565 acres of park <br /> and trail corridors in the City. The City of Ramsey Park and Recreation Commission is <br /> responsible for monitoring and reflecting the attitudes and concerns of the citizens of <br /> Ramsey relative to the park system and recreation programs, and to advise the City <br /> Council of citizen attitudes and policy matters relevant to the park and recreation <br /> function of the City. It will be an important component of the comprehensive plan <br /> .-, update to incorporate issues from these sources into the update. Parks and open <br /> space issues will also be reviewed relative to overall natural resources and sustainability <br /> ,.� issues. <br /> • Intergovernmental coordination <br /> The Ramsey comprehensive plan update process will include coordination with the <br /> plans of Anoka County and adjacent communities, counties, and other jurisdictions. <br /> While it is a Metropolitan Council requirement that adjacent jurisdictions be given <br /> the opportunity to review plans, in this process it will be instrumental to foster this <br /> coordination during the development of Ramsey's plan to ensure compatibility. <br /> b. Identify issues, needs, and opportunities in the City of Ramsey <br /> Identification of issues is the primary focus of the Ramsey3 process. The comprehensive <br /> plan will incorporate the community input that is gathered in this process. An additional <br /> review will determine if additional community outreach/engagement initiatives are <br /> needed to supplement the work of Ramsey3.
