Mayor Gamec replied that the Council has discussed the issues of private streets, but has not <br />come to a firm decision. <br /> <br />Councilmember Hendriksen inquired as to what the current ordinance states. <br /> <br />City Attorney Goodrich replied that the City may accept the plan as private streets or public <br />streets. <br /> <br />Principal Planner Trudgeon explained that the Planning Commission and Public Works <br />Committee discussed guidelines for private streets and one of those items discussed would be <br />that the main thoroughfare would be a City street and then the driveways would be private <br />streets. <br /> <br />Councilmember Kurak stated that they did say that they wanted a public street through the <br />development for public safety reasons and then the private streets would be called private drives <br />not private streets. <br /> <br />Director of Public Works/Fire Chief Kapler stated that staff was under the impression that there <br />was a consensus that the main arterial streets be public street and then the other connectors act as <br />driveways. <br /> <br />Councilmember Hendriksen questioned the lengths of the private roads. <br /> <br />Corey Leper, Orrin Thompson, replied approximately 210 feet to 220 feet. <br /> <br />Councilmember Hendriksen stated that he felt that the Public Works Committee should come up <br />with some criteria to help the Council out when deciding what the private drives should look like <br />for public safety purposes. <br /> <br />Councilmember Kurak stated that the Council needs to address the private street issue formally. <br /> <br />Councilmember Anderson questioned the width of the private drives. <br /> <br />Mr. Leper replied 24 feet. <br /> <br />Councilmember Anderson inquired if any street parking will be allowed. <br /> <br />Mr. Leper replied no, except at the end of every drive there will be three stalls. <br /> <br />Councilmember Anderson questioned the length of the driveways. <br /> <br />Mr. Leper replied that they are proposing 23 to 25 feet. <br /> <br />Councilmember Zimmerman inquired if the City street will connect to the Lord of Life site. <br /> <br /> City Council/December 11, 2001 <br /> Page 21 of 25 <br /> <br /> <br />
