Mayor Gamec stated that he talked with several <br /> residents in the area and they were very upset with the proposed townhomes and would like <br /> to see single family instead. For that reason he would agree with Low Density Residential. <br /> Councilmember Anderson agreed with changing the land use to Low Density Residential. <br /> Councilmember Hendriksen stated that he is opposed to changing the land use from <br /> Industrial to Medium Density as was requested. He does not want to speculate whether or <br /> not the property owner would prefer Industrial or Low Density Residential and would like to <br /> wait to make any changes until they hear from the developer. <br /> Kurak Property I: Principal Planner Trudgeon stated that the City received a request to <br /> change the land use from Low Density Residential to Mixed Use. Councilmember <br /> Hendriksen inquired as to what density would be permitted in a Mixed-Use designation. <br /> Principal Planner Trudgeon replied that that had not been determined. Councilmember <br /> Hendriksen inquired if it could be more than single family. Principal Planner Trudgeon <br /> replied yes. Councilmember Zimmerman felt that they should receive comment from the <br /> adjacent neighborhood before making the change. Councilmember Hendriksen stated that he <br /> did not see a reason to be making the change to Mixed Use. Councilmember Anderson <br /> agreed with changing the land use to Mixed Use. Councilmember Kurak agreed with <br /> changing the land use to Mixed Use. Mayor Gamec agreed with changing the land use to <br /> Mixed Use. Majority consensus was to change the land use from Low Density Residential to <br /> Mixed Use. Councilmember Hendriksen stated that he did not think that Councilmember <br /> Kurak could vote on her own property. Mayor Gamec replied that that only applies when <br /> they are rezoning property. Councilmember Hendriksen requested that it be recorded that the <br /> Council justified the land use change based on Councilmember Anderson, Mayor Gamec and <br /> Councilmember Kurak. <br />Kurak Property II: Principal Planner Trudgeon stated that the City received a request to <br />change the land use from Low Density Residential to Medium Density Residential and Low <br />Density Residential. Mayor Gamec noted that he had received several calls regarding this <br />change. He explained that there will be a public hearing on January 24, 2001, at which time <br />the residents can comment on that change and based on the fact that there will be the public <br />hearing he would agree with making the land use change to Medium Density Residential and <br />Low Density Residential. Councilmember Zimmerman stated that a year ago, <br />Councilmember Kurak agreed that the property should be left as single family residential. <br />Councilmember Kurak replied that the only area that would be designated as Medium <br />Density is the property that is adjacent to the collector streets. Councilmember Zimmerman <br />stated that there is significant opposition from the neighborhood regarding the proposed <br />change. Councilmember Kurak agreed with changing the land use to Medium Density <br />Residential and Low Density Residential. Mayor Gamec agreed with changing the land use <br />to Medium Density Residential and Low Density Residential. CoUncilmember Zimmerman <br />disagreed with the change and felt the land should remain Low Density Residential. <br />Councilmember Hendriksen was opposed to the change to Medium Density Residential and <br />Low Density Residential. Councilmember Anderson agreed with changing the land use to <br />Medium Density Residential and Low Density Residential.
