Absent: Mayor Gamec. <br /> <br />Case #5: <br /> <br />Authorize Contracts for Construction of New Ramsey Municipal Center and <br />Related Items <br /> <br />Assistant City Administrator Nelson stated on March 22, 2005, the City Council authorized <br />bidding for the New Ramsey Municipal Center construction. The bid period opened on April 8, <br />2005 and the bid date was May 5, 2005 at 2:00 p.m.; 141 bids were received for the 27 bid <br />divisions. Over the past two weeks staff has been working with the construction management <br />firm-3D/I and BKV Group-architects, to review the bids as well as verifying qualifications of the <br />contractors. The bids results and irregularities in bid divisions RM-1022 Asphalt Paving; RM- <br />1071 Fully Adhered EPDM Roofing and Sheet Metal; RM-1072 Metal Roofing and Related <br />Sheet Metal; RM-1095 Fluid Applied Flooring; and RM-1152 Fire Protection were reviewed <br />with the Council at the May 17, 2005 work session. Assistant City Administrator Nelson advised <br />the recommendation is to authorize contracts with the contractors listed in the case. She advised <br />on the following recommendations regarding bid irregularities: <br /> · Bid irregularities be waived for RM-1022 Asphalt Paving - awarding to Omann Brother <br /> Inc <br /> · RM-1071 Fully Adhered EPDM Roofing & Sheet Metal - awarding to S.G.O. Roofing <br /> and Construction <br /> · RM-1095 Fluid Applied Flooring - awarding to Twin City Tile and Marble Company <br /> · RM- 1152 Fire Protection - awarding to International Fire Protection <br /> · Rejecting bids for RM-1072 Metal Roofing and request for authorization to re-bid this <br /> division. <br /> <br />Mayor Pro Tem Elvig asked for further information regarding the metal roofing bid. <br /> <br />Cheryl Badinger of 3D/I explained there was a difference of over $200,000 in the bids for the <br />metal roofing. The recommendation is to reject all bids for this work scope and authorize to go <br />out for re-bids. The qualifications will be listed to state the years of experience it is expected for <br />the contractor to have. <br /> <br />Assistant City Administrator Nelson indicated the following is being recommended as well: · Security Contract bid to Connexus Security in the amount of $75,715.07 <br /> · Cable Casting Contract to Dascom Systems Group in the amount of $169,098.57 <br /> <br />Assistant City Administrator Nelson indicated there will not be an award for the Technology <br />Contract tonight.
