Councilmember Hendriksen inquired as to when the truck would be available. <br /> <br />Director of Public Works/Fire Chief Kapler replied approximately 12 months. <br /> <br />Councilmember Kurak stated that the highest story deck is 32 feet above grade and inquired if <br />the Fire Chief felt that was adequate to not endanger public safety without the aerial ladder truck. <br /> <br />Director of Public Works/Fire ChiefKapler replied no. <br /> <br />Councilmember Hendriksen inquired if the building existed today how would the Fire <br />Department handle a fire. <br /> <br />Director of Public Works/Fire Chief Kapler replied that depending on where the fire started, they <br />would have to call in a neighboring fire department, which would require the Ramsey Fire <br />Department to leave adequate space for them to come into the scene. He also noted that unlike <br />the current senior building, which is totally sprinkled, there are no plans to sprinkle the attic in <br />the proposed building. <br /> <br />Councilmember Hendriksen inquired if staff is willing to add that to the plans. <br /> <br />Director of Public Works/Fire ChiefKapler replied no. <br /> <br />Richard Krueger, 7640 150th Avenue NW, Ramsey, inquired if the building will include smoke- <br />proof towers with standpipes. <br /> <br />Director of Public Works/Fire Chief Kapler replied that he has not seen those things included in <br />the plans. <br /> <br />Mr. Krueger felt that those things should be required and the Fire Chief should review all plans. <br /> <br />Motion by Councilmember Kurak, seconded by Councilmember Anderson, to adopt Resolution <br />#01-10 398 adopting Findings of Fact #0581 relating to a request for a variance to the height <br />restrictions in order to construct a 47-unit apartment building as amended. <br /> <br />Motion carried. Voting Yes: Mayor Gamec, Councilmembers Kurak, Anderson, and <br />Zimmerman. Voting No: CouncilmemberHendriksen. <br /> <br />Motion by Councilmember Kurak, seconded by Councilmember Anderson, to adopt Resolution <br />#01-10-399 approving the issuance of a variance and declaring terms of same, adding condition <br />#5 which states "The issuance of the variance is contingent upon the subject property being <br />properly rezoned by the City. <br /> <br />City Council/October 23, 2001 <br /> Page 21 of 24 <br /> <br /> <br />
