Case #12: Report from the Public Works Committee <br /> <br />1) <br /> <br />Emergency Vehicle Access into Construction Sites <br /> <br />The Public Works Committee recommended that a policy be developed, which would <br />require that a class 5 driving surface be within 300 feet of any building under <br />construction, and that bituminous pavement be required prior to the issuance of a <br />certificate of occupancy. <br /> <br />Motion by Councilmember Zimmerman, seconded by Councilmember Kurak, to ratify <br />the recommendation of the Public Works Committee. <br /> <br />Motion carried. Voting Yes: Mayor Gamec, Councilmembers Zimmerman, Kurak, <br />Anderson, and Hendriksen. Voting No: None. <br /> <br />2) <br /> <br />Mailbox Replacement Policy <br />The Public Works Committee recommended that the mailbox policy be modified as <br />follows: <br /> Mailboxes, which are physically struck by City snow removal equipment, will be <br /> temporally replaced by the City within 48 house of received notification. <br />· The City will permanently replace the damaged mailbox the following Spring with a <br /> standard No. 1 black, white, or silver mailbox mounted on a four-inch by four-inch <br /> treated post. <br />· In lieu of the permanent replacement above, residents may receive a $75 allowance if <br /> they choose to replace the mailbox structure themselves and relieve the City of further <br /> obligation. <br /> <br />Motion by Councilmember Zimmerman, seconded by Councilmember Kurak, to ratify <br />the recommendation of the Public Works Committee. <br /> <br />Motion carried. Voting Yes: Mayor Gamec, Councilmembers Zimmerman, Kurak, <br />Anderson, and Hendriksen. Voting No: None. <br /> <br />Case #13: Report from Finance Committee <br /> <br />The Finance Committee met on October 9, 2001 to discuss the following cases: <br /> <br />1) <br /> <br />Construction of Fire Station II <br />The Finance Committee recommended that the City Council settle the City's liquidated <br />damages claim against Ebert Construction Company for the construction of Fire Station <br />II for the amount of $17,000, which is equal to 34 days at $500 per day and that the <br />proper City officers, under direction of the City Attorney, execute the necessary <br />documents for this purpose.
