Planning Commission did recommend approval of Mr. Bergersen's request because his property <br />is located on a Municipal State Aid road in close proximity to commercial uses. <br /> <br />Mayor Gamec stated that he would not typically support signs in a residential neighborhood, but <br />this sign is very nice and does not seem to have any affect on traffic. He did suggest including a <br />stipulation that if the property is developed, the conditional use permit would be terminated <br /> <br />Councilmember Hendriksen stated that he thought Mr. Bergersen had done a good job <br />constructing a sign that is attractive and set far enough back from the road. <br /> <br />Community Development Director Frolik noted that the conditional use permit does state that it <br />is personal to Mr. Bergerson. <br /> <br />Motion by Councilmember Hendriksen, seconded by Councilmember Zimmerman, to adopt <br />Resolution #01-08-310 adopting Findings of Fact #0567 relating to Mr. Bergersen's request for a <br />conditional use permit to display an advertising sign at 6211 - 167h Avenue NW. <br /> <br />Motion by Councilmember Hendriksen, seconded by Councilmember Anderson, to approve Mr. <br />Bergersen's request for a conditional use permit to display an advertising sign in a Residential <br />district, based on the findings of fact, and adopt Resolution #01-08-311 declaring terms of same, <br /> <br />Further discussion: Mayor Gamec requested that language be added to the permit that stated that <br />if development occurs, the conditional use permit will be terminated. Consensus of the Council <br />was to include the language. <br /> <br />Motion carried. Voting Yes: Mayor Gamec, Councilmembers Hendriksen, Anderson, Kurak, <br />and Zimmerman. Voting No: None. <br /> <br />Case #5: <br /> <br />Request for a Conditional Use Permit to Exceed Sign Size Restrictions; Case <br />of M& G Leasing <br /> <br />Community Development Director Frolik stated that the City received an application from M&G <br />Leasing to allow them to exceed the sign size restrictions for their building located at 7575 <br />Highway #10, where M&G Leasing is finishing construction of a multi-tenant commercial <br />building. The following items were enclosed for Council's information: In the commercial and <br />industrial districts, the City Code restricts ground or freestanding signs to a size of 100 square <br />feet per side. M&G Leasing is proposing a freestanding sign that will be 180 square feet in size <br />per side. The sign height is proposed to be 25 feet, which complies with City Ordinances. The <br />applicant is in the process of completing a 7,800 square foot building (6,000 sq. ft. trailer <br />showroom and 1,800 square feet of office space) that could contain up to five tenants. The <br />applicant states the need for a sign that exceeds the sign size restrictions is to provide adequate <br />signage for all of the tenants. The applicant has indicated that there will be no exterior wall signs <br />on the building.
