Finance Officer Lund noted that they could put Mr. Jankowski in the position of Assistant City <br />Engineer and not lose his license. <br /> <br />Councilmember Anderson inquired if staff felt that Mr. Jankowski could serve in a second chair <br />position and still serve the City of Ramsey. <br /> <br />Director of Public Works/Fire Chief Kapler replied that as the head of the engineering <br />department if he did not think Mr. Jankowski could not perform in a way to serve the City <br />acceptably he would not propose it, but it is not the ideal situation. <br /> <br />Finance Officer Lund stated that staff would propose to change Brian Olson's title to City <br />Engineer/Assistant Public Works Director. <br /> <br />Councilmember Hendriksen replied that he would assume that would require a pay increase. <br />Finance Officer Lund replied that staff would propose a slight pay increase. <br /> <br />Councilmember Anderson noted that Mr. Jankowski is the only City employee with a City car. <br /> <br />City Administrator Norman replied that based on the change in position, staff would terminate <br />the employment agreement that included the car. <br /> <br />Councilmember Anderson inquired as to what was stated in the agreement. <br /> <br />City Administrator Norman replied that there is a sixty-day termination requirement. <br /> <br />Mayor Gamec requested that the City Attorney review the document. <br /> <br />Councilmember Hendriksen stated that he felt that Mr. Jankowski's position should be changed <br />to Assistant City Engineer and that the car should be removed. <br /> <br />Councihnember Anderson also agreed with the changing Mr. Jankowski's position to Assistant <br />City Engineer and removing the car leaving Mr. Olson's title as City Engineer. <br /> <br />Councilmember Zimmerman stated that when Mr. Jankowski was hired, the City agreed to give <br />him a car, how could they take it away now. <br /> <br />Councilmember Hendriksen replied that staff is saying that Mr. Jankowski is not doing the job of <br />a City Engineer so, therefore, he is not performing to the terms of the agreement. <br /> <br />Mayor Gamec stated that he would like the car to be removed. <br /> <br />Staff will bring back further information regarding the issue. <br /> <br />Councihnember Kurak inquired if staff was confident that the City would receive the majority of <br />the salary back if they hire an Engineering Tech IV. <br /> <br /> City Council/August 2~, 2001 <br /> Page 3 of 4 <br /> <br /> <br />
