need for a trail there. He stated he was also concerned about people walking on Armstrong or
Verilite because they do not have a trail to walk on.

Parks/Utilities Supervisor Riverblood stated this is in the trail projects and is a very strong item
that will be addressed. He stated the only element is Council is working very closely with the
snowmobile riders and clubs and County 83, Central park and Elmcrest parking lot with routes
going north and east.

Councihnember Elvig wondered if it would be dangerous for snowmobiles and pedestrians to use
the on road trails.

Parks/Utilities Supervisor Riverblood indicated they will have one side of the road designated for
only snowmobiles and the other side will be plowed. He stated they needed to fast track the trails
and parks along Highway 47.

Councihnember Elvig stated he was at Elmcrest Park and the waterfalls looked great but he
thought the signage on the west side should be very small because of the conflict with the
neighborhood.

Chairperson Johns agreed and thought the signage would be larger along Highway 47 and may
end up being the main entrance.

Councihnember Elvig thought they should put down some bituminous on the road going into the
park because when people drive there it kicks up a lot of dust.

Mayor Gamec wondered if they could have a temporary sign on the west side to show people
where the park is.

Parks/Utilities Supervisor Riverblood thought they should have a minimal sign on County Road
5 and Highway 47 and a larger one on Quicksilver. He thought they needed to put larger signs in
all of the parks.

Councihnember Cook liked the trail connections shown in the plans to be done this year.

Mayor Gamec stated he has received calls from the school regarding the trails along County
Road 5 and the families at the school were very happy with this.

Councilmember Elvig stated he liked the input on the skateboard park at Central Park. He would
like to raise the bar about considering this at the Town Center again.

Parks/Utilities Supervisor Riverblood stated the Commission had been considering a skateboard
park for a number of years and is a great request from residents and kids.

Councihnember Jeffrey asked if they have received any requests for Frisbee golf.

Park and Recreation Commission/June 9, 2005
Page 4 of 10
