Parks/Utilities Supervisor Boos displayed the drawings from the vendors.

Motion by Commissioner Olds, seconded by Commissioner Johns, to recess the meeting in order
to study the proposals from vendors.

Motion carried. Voting Yes: Chairperson Cook, Commissioners Olds, Johns, and LaMere.
Voting No: None. Absent: Commissioners Ostrum and Rolfe.

Chairperson Cook recessed the meeting at 7:25 p.m.

Motion by Commissioner Johns, seconded by Commissioner Olds, to reconvene the meeting.

Motion carried. Voting Yes: Chairperson Cook, Commissioners Johns, Olds, and LaMere.
Voting No: None. Absent: Commissioners Ostrum and Rolfe.

Chairperson Cook called the meeting back to order at 7:53 p.m.

Chairperson Cook explained the Commission is considering the vendor to be Flanagan Sales.
The reason is that it looks like it would provide a continuous area of play from one end of the
structure to the other. It provides that type of play for average children and it is handicap
accessible on both sides of the structure. He concluded it seemed to offer more play events than
the other proposals, including five slides and two access areas that are tunneled.

Chairperson Cook explained that the proposal from Recreation Sports didn't seem to have as
many elevation changes as it went around the structure. It seemed to have barriers for those that
are not able-bodied.

Chairperson Cook noted that the proposed structure from St. Croix seemed to have several places
where the play broke up. It didn't seem to offer as many play activities as some other structures.
Though the Commission liked the look of the structure and the colors, and the look of the posts,
it didn't seem to have the same play flow as the structure chosen.

Motion by Commissioner Johns, seconded by Commissioner LaMere, to recommend Flanagan
Sales as the Playstructure supplier for the 2001 Playequipment replacement at River's Bend Park,
not to exceed cost of $49,986.

Motion carried. Voting Yes: Chairperson Cook, Commissioners Johns, LaMere, and Olds.
Voting No: None. Absent: Commissioners Ostrum and ROlfe.

Parks/Utilities Supervisor Boos informed that the quote might only be valid until the end of the
year. The company will buy the goods before the end of the year and store them until they are
used.

Commissioner Olds questioned if a downpayment will need to be made and a final payment after
installation.

Park and Recreation Commission/November 15, 2001
Page 8 of 12
