Staff member Chris Anderson mentioned that if this sign does get adopted, he suggested a slight <br />change will be necessary to the verbiage in the buffer ordinance. As it is written now, it is stated <br />in the ordinance that the sign will say no mowing allowed or vegetation clearing limit. It will <br />~ot rcqu]rc a public hearing, but it will need to be amended. <br /> <br />t~o;u'd Member Max made an amendment to his motion to accept the sign concept as described, <br />~;tipulating white on brown, and to make the appropriate changes to the ordinance to reflect the <br />new langnagc. Board Member Hustvedt seconded the motion again. Motion passed <br />unanimously. <br /> <br />lloard Member Max asked for more discussion regarding anchoring. Board Member Bentz <br />stated that he felt that concrete would be more expensive. Board Member Max stated that he felt <br />treated wood might not stand up in a wetland for very long. Board Member Bentz stated that he <br />t~l~ cedar would work. <br /> <br />f;ta 1~1' mom ber Chris Anderson reminded the Board members that this sign was not going in at the <br />del incatcd edge of the wetland but rather at the edge of the wetland buffer. <br /> <br />('hairpcrson McDilda stated that a galvanized stake might work. He stated that even with <br />(:cnlcnl, it tends to heave with the frost line, so going with concrete might not be feasible. He <br />stated that he felt an important point for consideration is to make sure the City has a way to work <br />wilh that. Environmental Specialist Bruce Bacon stated that there are also plastic posts or <br />recycled polytner. Board Member Max stated that there are local providers who sell polymer <br />i'encing. <br /> <br />Case #3: Wetland Buffer update <br /> <br />:4mfl' member Chris Anderson stated that there is not a whole lot of news other than this issue is <br />on thc City Council work session agenda for Tuesday, September 20, 2005. Several Members of <br />the Board stated that they could attend the meeting. Staff member Chris Anderson stated that he <br />spoke with Jim Arndt of Peterson Environmental. Staff member Chris Anderson stated that both <br />M~'. Amdt and Mr. Peterson are planning to attend the council meeting. <br /> <br />City Council Liaison Strommen asked staff member Chris Anderson if he had put any thought <br />into thc tbrmat for council discussion. She stated that she was hoping that the City Council <br />would bc prepared prior to the meeting. She stated that it is really hard to sit and discuss things <br />il' i)coplc haven't read the necessary information, which is something that the EPB has run into <br />1wice in the past and been hung up on it. <br /> <br />?4taft' member Chris Anderson stated that he envisioned a quick summary and opening it up to <br />questions from the council. Staff member Chris Anderson stated that Merlyn Hunt, John <br />Engstrom, and Mr. Bruce Bacon all plan on being there as land owners. <br /> <br />City Council Liaison Strommen clarified that it wouldn't be a public hearing.
