Required inspections <br />A footing inspection is required for in -ground pools after the <br />excavation, temporary fence installation and forms and/or <br />reinforcing is supported in place. For above ground pools, a <br />site inspection is required after the location has been staked. <br />Plumbing and mechanical inspections shall be required as <br />applicable for the scope of work being performed prior to <br />concealing or covering work. Electrical permits and <br />inspections as required by the Minnesota State Electrical <br />Code. A final inspection is required after all the work is <br />completed. <br />Pools must setbacic <br />rninirnu in of 10 ft <br />from side & rear <br />property Tines. <br />No swimming <br />pools allowed in <br />required front <br />yard setback. <br />Swimming Pool <br />Guidelines <br />Miscellaneous <br />A backflow prevention device must be provided on the water <br />faucet used for filling the pool or spa. Provide an anti -vortex <br />main drain for all pools. Tempered glass is required when the <br />pool/spa is located within five feet of glass and the glazing is 60 <br />inches or less in height from the walking surface. <br />Discuss your proposed pool, or spa, addition with your <br />insurance provider and homeowner's association (if <br />applicable). They may have additional regulations. <br />Filter unit setback minimum 10 ft and at <br />least 30 ft from adjoining neighbor's house. <br />Completely enclosed safety <br />fence required minimum 4 ft <br />high and setback minimum 4 <br />ft high from pool water edge. <br />Fences are not required for <br />above ground pools that are <br />at least 4 ft tall and have <br />removable ladder. <br />Pools must be located to conform to the <br />utility line clearances required by the <br />National Electrical Code and the the <br />National Electrical Safety Code. <br />Building permits are required for all swimming pools <br />5,000 gallons or larger. {whether above or below <br />grade level) <br />Zoning permits are required for all swimming pools <br />smaller than 5,000 gallons. <br />
