Director of Public Works/Fire Chief Kapler stated that the Public Works staff has discussed the <br />issue several times and the consensus has been that they would welcome the additional property. <br />1.4c noted that currently the City owns the entire A[Ioy Recovery site. <br /> <br />Councihnember Zimmerman stated that the' City does currently own"the' property, but it was his <br />:'ecollcction that the intention was to sen the land for economic development activity. 'He reit <br />that the land would be more beneficial for Public Works purposes. · <br /> <br />Councilmember Anderson stated that her recollection was that the land has some environmental <br />problems and if the land is used for public works purposes they would not have those issues to <br /> <br />Councihnember Hendriksen stated that the price of land is not going down and being that' the' <br />iand is currently next to the existing public works building it has a great deal of value to the City. <br /> did not thirLk that the City should be actively trying to sell the land. <br /> <br />Councilmember Kurak inquired if there will be a contract drafted for the moving of the dirt. She <br />:gutted that she was concerned with the state of the property after the dirt is removed. Ms. Kurak <br />',¥anted to make sure that the land is left in a good workable condition. <br /> <br />!?rincip~tl City Eng/neer Olson replied that Mr. Sauter has done work'for the City in the past and <br />has alFeady agreed to build a haul route. He noted that he did not plan on drafting a contract for <br />t't~e work. . <br /> <br />Cous. cilmember Kurak stated that she would not demand a contract, but she wanted to voice her <br />COllCtg[llS. <br /> <br />Prir~cipaI City Engineer Olson stated that the land is planned for a i0t of commercial development <br />trod it is i, their best interest to make sure the land is left in a gogd state. <br /> <br />Councihnember Zimmemmn replied that he was sure that Mr. Sauter would leave the land in a <br />good condition, but felt that there should be something in the books identifying what the <br />transact[o~l was. <br /> <br />Motion by Mayor Gamec, seconded by Councilmember Anderson, to recommend that the City <br />COLtn. Cil aLtthorize staff to begin the necessary procedures to locate a cul-de-sac at the intersection <br />of Lh~onite Street NW and 142'~d Avenue NC/. <br /> <br />,x,4o~ioz~ carried. Voting Yes: Mayor oamec and Councilmembers Anderson, Kurak, Hendfiksen, <br />and Zimmerman.
