Parks/Utilities Supervisor Boos stated that the purpose of the case was to discuss the timeline for <br />the 2001-2005 Capital Improvement Program process as well as the current years capital <br />improvements proposed. <br /> <br />Commissioner Rolfe inquired if any discussions had occurred regarding a park tour with the City <br />Council. <br /> <br />Parks/Utilities Supervisor Boos suggested the Commission propose a couple of dates to the City <br />Council. <br /> <br />The Commission directed staff to invite the City Council on a park tour on either June 19t~ or <br />June 26th at 5:00 p.m., as well as put together an agenda together for the tour. <br /> <br />ParldUtilities Supervisor Boos reviewed the park improvement projects budgeted for 2000 noting <br />that the bleachers are again in compliance so the City will no longer be required to retrofit the <br />bleachers. <br /> <br />Commissioner Ostrum inquired if the landowner east of Central Park ever agreed to a sale of his <br />land to the City for expansion. <br /> <br />Parks/utilities Supervisor Boos explained that there have been several discussions with the land <br />owner and he would like the land to be used for parks, but there has never been a formal <br />agreement. <br /> <br />Commissioner Rolfe questioned if the position of the City Council had changed regarding the <br />expansion of Central Park. <br /> <br />Parks/utilities Supervisor Boos replied that he has not had any formal discussions recently <br />regarding park matters. <br /> <br />Chairperson Cook questioned if it would be possible hold the money so that the funds would be <br />available if the land is put up for sale. <br /> <br />Commissioner Rolfe inquired if as a Commission do they want to push the issue to get some type <br />of formal agreement signed now or would be better to wait. <br /> <br />Parks/utilities Supervisor Boos explained that the land owner would like the property to park <br />land and would not do anything without discussing the issue with the City first. <br /> <br />Commissioner Ostrum stated that from a needs standpoint there is more of a need to develop <br />Elmcrest Park than expanding Central Park. <br /> <br />Commissioner Rolfe replied that the expansion of Central Park will be a long term benefit of the <br />Park Department and Ramsey so the additional 35 acres is critical. <br /> <br />Park and Recreation Commission/June 8, 2000 <br /> Page 5 of 8 <br /> <br /> <br />
