Commissioner Johnson left at 9:40 p.m. <br /> <br />Chairperson Anderson questioned why some of the streets are designated as private drives and <br />others public streets; would it be a problem to develop the entire site with public roads; and how <br />wide is a paved portion of a public street. <br /> <br />City Engineer Jankowski <br />pavement is 24 feet wide. <br />wisheswith the setback. <br /> <br />replied that public street pavement is 30 feet and private street <br />He explained that on a private street a developer can do what he <br /> <br />Community Development Frolik pointed out that private drives in a high density development <br />allow for more green space. <br /> <br />Chairperson Anderson inquired if more density could occur if the Argon cul-de-sac was <br />designated as a private road. <br /> <br />City Engineer Jankowski replied yes. <br /> <br />Chairperson Anderson questioned what would happen if the cul-de-sac was designated as a <br />public street. <br /> <br />Mr. Bulow replied that they would maybe lose one unit. <br /> <br />Lynn Cosevell, John Oliver & Associates, Inc., stated that they would prefer to construct private <br />streets so they would avoid the right-of-way width and additional setback that is required on <br />public streets. <br /> <br />Commissioner Dempsey inquired if Mr. Bulow would prefer to have the Argon cul-de-sac access <br />from the existing neighborhood or from the private drive within the development. <br /> <br />Mr. Bulow replied that he would prefer to keep the entire site on private drives. <br /> <br />Commissioner Jensen inquired if there will be overflow parking within the development. <br /> <br />Mr. Bulow replied that the current site plan includes parking nodes, and noted that if the entire <br />development is constructed with private drives, there would be additional parking nodes added to <br />the plan. <br /> <br />Chairperson Anderson noted in the City Staff Review letter of March 15, 2000, under item #4 in <br />the second paragraph, it should be changed to read" .... generated from the 6 units.." rather than <br />5.
