The other major <br />issue seems to be with the height of the towers vs. coverage. Ms. McMonical explained that the <br />tower companies tell the cities that they are suppose to supply seamless coverage and there are <br />indications that that is not true. She will have to do some analysis and make a judgment call as <br />to what is coverage, currently the studies show that the majority of the area is covered up to 71 <br />percent from US West. <br /> <br />Commissioner Wivoda stated that there is a lot of emphasis on cell towers, but he wants to make <br />sure the ordinance is not going to prohibit all towers in residential yards, for example an amateur <br />radio tower. <br /> <br />City Attomey Goodrich stated that the issue of towers siting on City owned property should be <br />reviewed. <br /> <br />Commissioner Johnson stated that he is interested in what adjacent cities are doing with tower <br />ordinances. <br /> <br />City Attorney Goodrich also requested information on the rules of co-location and the practical <br />aspects of doing so. <br /> <br />Commissioner Dempsey stated that he would like more information as to the possibility of <br />constructing more than one tower in the same proximity. <br /> <br />Ms. McMonical inquired if anyone had information on gaps in coverage. <br /> <br />City Attorney Goodrich suggested that she contact the Police Chief since they use cell phones <br />throughout the City. <br /> <br />Commissioner Reeve stated that if you contact the cell phone companies, they will give out <br />information as to where there are gaps in the City. <br /> <br />Ms. McMonical inquired if the Commission would be open to looking at additional height in <br />residential areas. <br /> <br />Consensus of the Commission was yes. <br /> <br />Case #1: <br /> <br />Continuance - Proposed Ordinance to Establish Density Standards for New <br />Residential Development Adjacent to Existing Single Family Development <br /> <br />Vice-Chairperson Nixt closed the regular portion of the Planning Commission meeting at 7:17 <br />p.m. in order to conduct the continuance of the public hearing. <br /> <br />Planning Commission/August 1, 2000 <br /> Page 5 of 13 <br /> <br /> <br />
