PC CASE # <br /> <br /> CONSIDER AUTHORIZATION TO HIRE A <br /> STREETS MAINTENANCE WORKER AND <br />BEGIN THE RECRUITMENT PROCESS TO FILL THE <br />PARKS MAINTENANCE WORKER POSITION <br /> <br />By: Givonna Reed, Human Resources Manager <br /> <br />Background: <br /> <br />As part of the 2006 budget, the City Council authorized the .creation of one new Public <br />Works Streets Maintenance Worker position. In a recent issue of the Weekly Update, the <br />City Administrator advised Council Members that staffwould begin the internal recruitment <br />process to fill this vacancy. An internal recruitment process was conducted; two applications <br />were received and interviews were conducted. <br /> <br />Staff Recommendation: <br /> <br />Staff is recommending that the Personnel Committee grant authorization to hire Greg Lind, <br />who is currently a Parks Maintenance Worker with the City of Ramsey, to the position of <br />Streets Maintenance Worker. Upon Council approval, Mr. Lind's appointment will be <br />effective January 25, 2006. <br /> <br />If Mr. Lind is appointed to the Streets Maintenance Worker position, staff further <br />recommends that the Personnel Committee grant authorization to begin the recruitment <br />process to fill the Parks Maintenance Worker position. <br /> <br />Committee Action: <br /> <br />Motion recommending that staff be granted authorization to hire Greg Lind as the <br />City's new Public Works Streets Maintenance Worker effective January 25, 2006. <br /> <br />Pending approval of Committee Action #1, motion recommending that staff be <br />granted authorization to begin the recruitment process to fill the Parks Maintenance <br />Worker position left vacant by Mr. Lind. <br /> <br />PC: 01-24-06 <br /> <br />-307- <br /> <br /> <br />
