Absent: Ostrum. <br /> <br />Case #2: Sketch Plan Review for Shorewalk <br /> <br />Civil Engineer 1I Linton explained Shorewalk, LLC has submitted a sketch plat to develop the <br />property east of Sunfish Lake. The proposed development has a mix of single family and <br />townhomes. The proposed project is approximately 90 acres. The developer is requesting that <br />the project be approved as a Planned Unit Development (PUD). The project was presented to the <br />Planning Commission on November 3, 2005 and the request was denied. The developer was <br />directed to prepare a new sketch with fewer townhomes, more single family homes and mom <br />access to the lake and wetland. <br /> <br />The site is in the Sunfish Lake Recreation District. <br /> <br />Chairperson Johns felt very strongly that they should try to get trails around Sunfish Lake. The <br />property on the southwest side of the lake, is it City owned. <br /> <br />Parks/Utilities Supervisor Riverblood indicated it was. <br /> <br />Chairperson Johns stated at one point there was discussion about that land being a park. <br /> <br />Civil Engineer II Linton stated this was discussed with staff and was thought it was appropriate <br />to bring this forward again for planning. <br /> <br />Chairperson Johns stated as the Shorewalk progresses, she strongly recommends they look at <br />incorporating a trail along the trail and access to the lake. <br /> <br />Chairperson Johns noted she would like to see the developer make some of the area by the water <br />open space for public access. <br /> <br />Parks/Utilities Supervisor Riverblood stated the Commission has felt that some access to the lake <br />is necessary. He thought this should be captured in a motion to point this out. The RFP for <br />planning on the west side of the lake and it may be appropriate to have a joint meeting with the <br />HRA for the areas that are not included in this proposal. <br /> <br />Motion by Commissioner Olds, seconded by Commissioner Shryock, to recommend that <br />planning endeavors include a trail cimumnavigating the lake and the trail connections consistent <br />with the trail plan, and ensure that any common area required within the plat be adjacent to the <br />lake and available to the public. <br /> <br />Motion carried.
