Councihnember Hendriksen suggested sending a letter to all adjacent properties explaining the
interest that has been expressed in acquiring the additional land to determine who would be
interested in the land.

City Engineer Jankowski stated that the letter should include what the terms of the sale would be.

Councilmember Zimmerman replied that they would need to have some idea of what the land is
worth.

City Engineer Jankowski suggested using the appraisal the City received when they acquired the
land.

Councihnember Hendriksen wants to verify that ACCAP is giving the use of the property to the
City without affecting the sale price to ACCAP.

Councilmember Zimmerman stated that Staff needs to come to some sort of conclusion as to
what the uses of the land would be and recommended not selling any of the property until
Sunwood Drive is extended.

City Administrator Norman noted that he will assign the Community Development Director to
review possible land uses.

Councihnember Hendriksen requested that the Park and Recreation Commission review the
possibility of a weigh station.

Case #1: Update on Water Tower No. 2 (Improvement Project #99-64)

City Engineer Jankowski stated that staff has met with AEC Engineering to initiate the design
work on the elevated tank. Since this particular water utility improvement will require the most
time to complete, 23 months according to the schedule submitted with the proposal, staff feels it
is important to avoid any delays.

John Bushar, AEC Engineering, presented the Committee with the general styles of water towers
available and the four types of storage tanks the City is considering.

Councilmember Hendriksen inquired as to the pros and cons of constructing a concrete tower.

Mr. Bushar replied that the maintenance costs with concrete would be lower. He explained that
part of the proposal to the City is to do a life cycle analysis and determine which option would be
the least expensive to the City.

Councihnember Connolly inquired as to the cost differences.

Public Works Committee/February 15, 2000
