Councilmember Hendriksen inquired about the Ramsey band on the water tower.

Public Works Director/Fire Chief Kapler responded it would be a darker band with lighter
colored lettering.

Councilmember Hendriksen stated this would not show up well.

Chairperson Zimmerman directed Staff to bring a rendition of what they are looking at for the
water tower to the Committee. He explained Councilmember Anderson has expressed concerns
with the colors on the water tower and they would like to give their input.

Public Works Director/Fire Chief Kapler advised Staff was considering the word "Ramsey" to be
on three sides of the water tower, from both directions on Highway 10 and to be seen going south
on Highway 47. He also advised if a logo were included on the water tower, it would likely be
too detailed and would look like a spot from far away.

City Engineer Jankowski stated Staff would obtain bids on three different style tanks. Staff will
be able to accept the low bid on the style they want. They anticipate the plans and specifications
to be available later in the week and will want to put this on the agenda for approval at the
Tuesday meeting. They will also have a rendition of what it will look like for the Council.

COMMITTEE/STAFF INPUT

1) Property Acquisition

Public Works Director/Fire Chief Kapler stated the owner of the property to be acquired to the
north of the existing Public Works building would like to do as friendly a negotiation as possible.

2) Landscaping Improvements

Public Works Director/Fire Chief Kapler stated Public Works has a flesh look with changed
landscaping. They are about half done with the side facing Jasper Street.

3) Barium Street Update

Chairperson Zimmerman asked if there was an update on the Barium Street property.

Public Works Director/Fire Chief Kapler responded he received a call from the gentleman with
the yard they dealt with last year but he has not yet been able to reach him when he returned his
call.

City Engineer Jankowski advised he has had some conversations relative to what Mr.
Rademacher had proposed to continue the access off Highway 47 to build a superette and to give

Public Works Committee/May 16, 2000
