approving the listed changes to the City's labor agreement with LELS-Patrol. The contract, <br />including the proposed language, will be effective January 2006-December 2007. <br /> <br />Motion carried. Voting Yes: Mayor Gamec, Councilmembers Cook, Olson, Elvig, Pearson, and <br />Strommen. Voting No: None. Absent: Councilmember Jeffrey. <br /> <br />2) Consider Approving 2006-2007 Wages and Benefits for Non-Union Employees <br /> <br />Councilmember Cook stated the 2006-2007 Wages and Benefits for Non-Union employees are <br />basically the same as the agreement for the LELS-Patrol. Staff and the Personnel Committee <br />recommend approval of the 2006-2007 Wages and Benefits for Non-Union Employees. <br /> <br />Motion by Councilmember Cook, seconded by Councilmember Pearson, to ratify the <br />recommendation of the Personnel Committee in Case No. 2 and to adopt Resolution #06-01-037 <br />approving the listed benefits and wages for non-union employees. The changes are effective <br />January 1, 2006. <br /> <br />Motion carried. Voting Yes: Mayor Gamec, Councilmembers Cook, Pearson, Elvig, Olson, and <br />Strommen. Voting No: None. Absent: Councilmember Jeffrey. <br /> <br />Further discussion: Mayor Gamec inquired if the AFSCME contract is still in negotiations. <br />Councilmember Cook replied the AFSCME contract will be going to mediation. <br /> <br />3) <br /> <br />Consider Authorization to Hire a Streets Maintenance Worker and begin the <br />Recruitment Process to fill the Parks Maintenance Worker Position <br /> <br />Councilmember Cook explained as part of the 2006 budget, the City Council authorized the <br />creation of one new Public Works Streets Maintenance Worker position. An internal recruitment <br />process was conducted to fill this vacancy; two applications were received and interviews were <br />conducted. Staff is recommending authorization to hire Greg Lind, who is currently a Parks <br />Maintenance Worker. If Mr. Lind is appointed to the Streets Maintenance Worker position, staff <br />further recommends that the Personnel Committee grant authorization to begin the recruitment <br />process to fill the Parks Maintenance Worker position. The Personnel Committee recommends <br />authorization of staff's recommendations. <br /> <br />Motion by Councilmember Cook, seconded by Councilmember Olson, to ratify the <br />recommendation of the Personnel Committee in Case No. 3 and adopt Resolution #06-01-038 to <br />grant authorization to hire Greg Lind as the City's new Public Works Streets Maintenance <br />Worker effective January 25, 2006; and to authorize staff to begin the recruitment process to fill <br />the Parks Maintenance Worker position left vacant by Mr. Lind. <br /> <br />Mayor Gamec inquired if there will be cross training between the Public Works Street <br />Maintenance and the Parks Maintenance Departments. City Administrator Norman replied this <br />information will be included in the Weekly Update. <br /> <br />Motion carried. Voting Yes: Mayor Gamec, Councilmembers Cook, Olson, Elvig, Pearson, and <br />Strommen. Voting No: None.
