Case #8 Report from Personnel Committee <br /> <br />1) Authorize Appointment of Two Full-Time Public Works Maintenance Workers and <br /> Name an Alternate <br /> <br />Human Resources Manager Heryla stated that 28 applications were received and 12 interviews <br />conducted by a panel of Staff members. Based on interview results, Staff recommends the <br />Council authorize Staff to offer full time Public Works Maintenance Worker positions to Jon <br />Pearson and to Chad Christian, effective April 12, 2000, and name Levi Dargis as an alternate in <br />the event one of the candidates declines the offer, contingent upon successful completion of <br />background investigations of driving records and criminal histories, reference checks, and <br />physical examinations. <br /> <br />Councilmember Anderson stated the Personnel Committee unanimously recommends approval. <br /> <br />Motion by Councilmember Connolly and seconded by Mayor Gamec to authorize Staff to offer <br />full time Public Works Maintenance Worker positions to Jon Pearson and to Chad Christian <br />effective April 12, 2000, and name Levi Dargis as an alternate in the event one of the candidates <br />declines the offer, contingent upon successful completion of background investigations of <br />driving records and criminal histories, reference checks, and physical examinations. <br /> <br />Motion carried. Voting Yes: Mayor Gamec, Councilmembers Connolly, Anderson, Hendriksen <br />and Zimmerman. Voting No: None. Absent: None. <br /> <br />2) Consider Establishing the Temporary Position of Public Works Lead Person <br /> <br />Councilmember Anderson explained the newly created Public Works Lead Person would take on <br />responsibility for the additional seasonal workers during the summer time which results in the <br />need for additional supervision. The Personnel Committee recommends the creation of a trail <br />position of Public Works Lead Person to become effective now until September 2000, with an <br />added wage of $1.96 per hour. This has been presented to Public Works employees and been <br />met with favorable comments. <br /> <br />Motion by Councilmember Anderson and seconded by Mayor Gamec to authorize posting a <br />temporary position of Public Works Lead Person effective until September 2000, with a wage <br />increase of $1.96 per hour. <br /> <br />Motion carried. Voting Yes: Mayor Gamec, Councilmembers Anderson, Connolly, Hendriksen <br />and Zimmerman. Voting No: None.
