Councilmember Cook stated he has been here for fifteen years and he understands the growth <br />and thought they have done a great job expanding but he did not know how they will be able to <br />go from twenty thousand to forty thousand and still be efficient. He thought the people in the <br />City were looking for more amenities in the City than they were fifteen years ago. He thought <br />they were looking at a great challenge to provide recreation in the City. <br /> <br />Councilmember Olson stated she agreed with everything said and thought communication will <br />be a real key if they are going to retain any semblance of the rural community they have today. <br /> <br />Mr. Nagel wondered how they are going to keep the communication going because he has heard <br />the response times have been excellent with communication with the citizens. <br /> <br />Councilmember Olson stated in order to keep up; they are going to have to find additional ways <br />to communicate. <br /> <br />Councilmember Strommen stated in regards to communication, they will have to find ways for <br />residents to know how to find what they need in the City as they grow. She thought that as they <br />grow, people lose the sense of community and they need to find a way to keep that. She stated <br />they need to keep the smaller neighborhoods in order to keep the communication. <br /> <br />Councilmember Pearson stated he likes the friendliness of the City and that Ramsey is <br />affordable. As the city gets bigger, it is getting to be more of a challenge in order to make the <br />City a place where people can afford to live and still have a tax base and growth. <br /> <br />Mayor Gamac thought having the communication between the Council and the residents is key. <br />He thought it was important to have the City staff be proud of their jobs and the City. He <br />thought another key point is the closeness between the residents and the staff. He stated they are <br />still like two cities in one, rural and urban, which is changing but they still need to take that into <br />consideration. He stated their Happy Days celebration has brought the City together too. <br />Community events and bringing people together is really important. <br /> <br />Mayor Gamac thought there should be more community meetings to get people together and <br />become aware of different issues in and around the City. He thought things like that brought a <br />city together. He thought as a city grows the Council and staff has to remain close to the <br />residents of the community. <br /> <br />Mr. Joynes wondered what sort of things would the Council want to do better in the future in <br />regards to communication. <br /> <br />Councilmember Jeffrey did not think ten years from now they will know what types of <br />communication they will have to deal with but he thought they needed to stay ahead of it. He <br />stated they need to build an organization that anticipates expectations instead of reacting to them. <br />He thought there was room for improvements. <br /> <br />Councilmember Cook thought the Council has done a good job anticipating expectations such as <br />the skateboard park.
