Councilman Reimann stated he wanted the City to go for price quotes and
bring them to the next Council meeting for approval. Council~indicated
that this would slow things up in getting a door installed at the above
location.
Council directed that a piece of plywood be installed as a temporary
measume.
}~otion by Councilman Cox and seconded by Councilman Sorteberg to have the
City get price quotes on a fire door and quotes for installing it and these
costs be presented at the next regular Council meeting.
Motion carried. Voting yes Mayor Ga~nec, Councilmen Sorteberg, Mickelson,
Reimann and Cox. Voting no None.
Council opened the discussion on the City's 1981 Budget and the levy that
will support the said budget. The discussion in particular was on the
supplements to the core budget as follows:
Supplement #2 for the Police Department which would add one additional police
officer to the Ramsey Police Department at an additional cost of $28,680 to
the 1981 General Fund core budget. The City Administrator stated to the
Council if they add this man it shouldn't be until July l, 1981. Council~n
Reimann stated he was opposed to this supplement #2 to the Police Budget
which would add an additional police officer in the amount of $28~680. He
stated that due to the state of the nation's economy and the local econo~V
he had to oppose it. He further stated that if things improved he would
like to look at it in the 1982 budget.
Mayor Gamec stated he felt there was a definite need for this additional
police officer as contained in Supplement #2 of the Police Budget and that
with the levy limitation coming into effect the City of Ramsey would be
hard pressed to budget for it in the forthcoming years.
Mayor G~mec polled Council members and a majority of the Council members'
(Mayor Gamec, Councilmen Mickelson and Sorteberg) felt the City'should'
budget the dollars for the police officer as shown in the police supplement
#2 and hire the Police office July l, 1980.
Councilman Reimann stated he thou~ht the City should budget half of the pro-
posed smount that is contained in the police budget supplement #2 and hire
the officer after January l, 1982.

· CounciLman Cox stated he thought the City should budget half the proposed
~nount that is contained in the Police budget supplement #2 and hire the
officer after July l, 1981.
Council adjourned the meeting at 7:40 P.M. to turn it over to the County
Assessor, Mr. Gayle Leone to discuss with the citizens present why he in-
creased the property valuation of certain commercial and industrial after
the Ramsey City Council reduced them at their Board of Review.
